Publisher Hooded Horse and Battle Brothers developer Hooded Horse unveiled a new trailer for sci-fi tactical RPG Menace during today’s PC Gaming Show Most Wanted showcase.
Focusing on a group of marines mounting a desperate defense as overwhelming numbers of enemies assault their settlement, it gives us a taste of the title’s action-packed battles.

Menace has so far reached 300,000 wishlists on Steam, according to its publisher, who attributes the high level of interest to the game’s “grounded sci-fi setting and commitment to Battle Brothers’ unique blend of challenge and player freedom.”
Rather than leading a band of medieval mercenaries, we take control of a strike force fighting against an alien threat.
We decide which distress calls we respond to and these choices, alongside the resources we invest and our level of readiness before missions determine how the factions we interact with treat us.
Aside from marines, our squads also include mercenaries and criminals, all vital to succeed during any operation, which takes us through “branching paths of multiple missions” whose battles take place “across entire worlds.”
Turn-based encounters are at the core of Menace, which means that we’ll need to master making proper use of cover, flanking, and using weapons at their effective ranges as well as taking note of the strengths and weaknesses of the vehicles and mechs at our disposal.
The soldiers under our command have distinct personalities and become increasingly valuable assets while they level up, so keeping them alive is important, while the strike cruiser acting as our customizable mobile headquarters provides both orbital support and a place for respite.
Menace is slated to enter early access on PC, via Steam and the Epic Games Store in Q3 2025.
