As you may have heard, Aron Eisenberg of Star Trek Deep Space 9 fame has recently passed. With such a loyal fanbase that Star Trek has, it was to be expected that the community of Star Trek Online would come together to do something nice to honour Nog.
When news of Eisenberg’s passing hit STO’s servers, people joined up to hold a quaint vigil at Quark’s Bar. It’s interesting to note that this wasn’t planned out as such, but happened as a result of people coming together to honour and celebrate a beloved actor.
Eisenberg played the role of Nog, the resident Ferengi, throughout all seven seasons of Deep Space 9. This has resulted in him quickly becoming a fan-favorite character, with a particularly nuanced development arc. He recently reprised his role for Star Trek Online in particular - one of the features that livened up the tutorial sequence for a good many players.
On Reddit, people are sharing their pictures of Nog’s vigil, and many others, depending on which instance/server they joined up on. Some have even requested for Eisenberg’s name to be added to the main memorial, even though Nog was more of a recurring character. A nice gesture, to be sure,
It wasn’t that long ago that Star Trek Online got its last major content update, and we’re sure there’s more to follow. The game’s even got an entry on our best free PC games list.
