Respawn's Star Wars title Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order</a> is still a while off and is shrouded in mystery, but now we've got a few rumours about it that suggest that we may not see Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order multiplayer in the game.
The rumour stems from the popular Star Wars podcast Now This Is Podcasting, from the website Making Star Wars, which is one of the biggest and most well-connected fan sites around. Host and site editor-and-chief Jason Ward seems to know some details about Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, including that it may not include multiplayer, and that it may play like Star Wars: The Force Unleashed "without the Mountain Dew qualities."
You can listen to the podcast here, and the comments about Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order start at the 19:00 mark. Ward says that he has been speaking to people connected with the game at Respawn. He says the game will play like The Force Unleashed but "less extreme, more true to canon... you won't see anything absurd."
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (apart from it's sequel) was the last game released by LucasArts in 2008 before their closure, and the last single-player Star Wars story games until now. It had fun action gameplay, and told the story of Darth Vader training a secret apprentice between Episodes III and IV. It was derided a little for it's ridiculous over-the-top Force Powers, which most infamously included apprentice Starkiller pulling a Star Destroyer out of the sky. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will have the same type of gameplay (and the same time period), but less ridiculous.
It may also have no multiplayer, which is contrary to what EA has previously suggested about all their games, especially its Star Wars titles. "From what it sounds like is going on, you will probably want to keep Star Wars Battlefront installed for multiplayer stuff," Ward continues.
We'll believe this when we see it, but we'd certainly love it. Here's everything we know and can expect to see about Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, but "no multiplayer" is something we dare not dream.
