Conquering the Red Planet in Surviving Mars is no easy feat. Buildings get covered in pretty orange dust and break down. Although eager, your colonists can grow earthsick and leave or, indeed, die squished by a meteor that really only ever wanted to be hugged. It’s almost as if some console commands and cheats could sometimes make things a bit easier.
Players have been asking about Surviving Mars’ console commands and cheats since the game’s launch and, with its development restarting, those returning might want to hop over some of the hurdles certain locations across the Red Planet can present.
It’s, then, good to know that Surviving Mars has no console commands and cheats that you can access in a “traditional” way. There’s neither an in-game console, nor a command line you can add to get access to one, as far as we can tell.
Instead, players have been using ChoGGi’s Expanded Cheat Menu mod to fiddle with the game in ways not available in the base game. Installing it opens the path to such options as setting buildings to an always clean state, removing sponsor and wonder limits, unlocking locked buildings, and mass fixing everything in your colony.
The list extends well beyond these possibilities. While you may need to take a while to familiarize yourself with the mod, it seems to very much be the sole alternative, in the absence of more traditional Surviving Mars console commands and cheats.
