The Command & Conquer Remastered Collection is now available on Steam, bringing updated versions of two real-time strategy classics to both nostalgic veterans of the series and new players.
The remaster will also launch with mod support which makes it easier for crafty players to add their content to both titles. To help keep you up to date with what’s especially cool, here is our list of the best Command & Conquer Remastered mods.
The Best Command & Conquer Remastered Mods
The Command & Conquer Remastered Collection Steam Workshop already features a handful of mods, likely courtesy of members of the game’s community council.
Since EA and Petroglyph will release the source code of both the remastered versions of Red Alert and Tiberian Dawn, more mods are sure to follow over the coming months.
As they get released, we’ll also update our list of the best Command & Conquer Remastered Collection mods, so make sure to drop by regularly to check out new additions.
Modern Wall Building Mod
The Modern Wall Building mod implements the style of wall placement found in OpenRA and OpenRA2, making wall segments automatically connect to nearby walls while also allowing for cell-by-cell placement. If you’re strapped for cash, you’ll want to be careful since selling them doesn’t get you any money back. Find it on the Steam Workshop.
Rename Light Scout to Hum-vee Mod
A sure pick for players looking for nostalgia even in the smallest of details, the Rename Light Scout to Hum-vee Mod does what it says on the tin, making GDI’s light scout use its original name. Grab it from the Steam Workshop.
The River Mod
One of the first map mods for the Command & Conquer Remastered Collection, the River adds a level with the same name that focuses on GDI attacking a NOD base set in Germany. Winning requires clearing out all NOD forces, air support becoming available as you destroy their SAM sites.
Nuke Tank Sample Mod
The Nuke Tank mod is meant as a sample for Command & Conquer Remastered Collection’s modding potential. Built to answer the question of what would the Brotherhood of NOD do with a Mammoth Tank, players will be able to use the powerful nuke dispenser as soon as launch. Get it from the Steam Workshop.
Path Beyond [Snow] (6-8) Mod
The Path Beyond [Snow] (6-8) Mod adds an alternate, snowy version of the popular map. The two bridges near its middle act as points of interest, reducing the time required to get from one side of the map to the other. Find it on the Steam Workshop.
WarStar (Mega - 8 Players) Mod
The Warstar Mod adds a large map shaped, as the name suggests, like a star. Its inner section is rich in resouces but requires players to cross water in order to reach it. Grab it from Steam Workshop.
Diamonds Aren't Forever [Snow] (Mega 8 players) Mod
The Diamonds Aren’t Forever Snow map is an alternative, snowier version of the classic map. Its layout stands out, featuring an inner cluster of nine patches of land linked together by paths, the centermost patch being rich in resources. Eight more patches of land, also connected to each other and rich in resources, are then spread around the edges of the map. Subscribe to it on Steam Workshop.
Additional Zoom Levels Mod
Whether you want to take a closer look at Command & Conquer Remastered Collection’s updated models or need a wider view of the battlefield, the Additional Zoom Levels Mod has got you covered. Available on the Steam Workshop for both Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert.
Attack Move Mod
A command that many RTS players see as vital, the Attack Move Mod finally lets you Shift+click locations and have your units automatically attack any hostiles they encounter on the way. You’ll find it on Steam workshop for both Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert.
Safe Commando Demolition Mod
Commandos are excellent at blowing up buildings but are rather fragile units, making it possible for explosion survivors to slowly chip off their health. The Safe Commando Demolition mod aims to stop that through a simple change: it makes sure that no survivors spawn when a building is blown up. Find it on Nexus Mods.
AI-Boost
The AI-Boost mod ups the challenge by enabling the AI to make better use of units like Spies, MAD Tanks and Chrono Tanks and use buildings in a more efficient way. You can also expect a more adequate response to the tactics that you choose to employ, alongside a variety of different improvements. Grab it from the Steam Workshop.
