Mass Effect Legendary Edition revitalizes the entire Commander Shepard saga, adding a series of visual and quality of life improvements to the player’s attempts at thwarting the Reapers’ plans. As great a release as it was, the remaster still left some things out which, as is often the case with PC games, are now covered by the best Mass Effect Legendary Edition mods.
Although Bioware’s improvements were inspired by what the community found lacking in the original releases, the best Mass Effect Legendary Edition mods give you that extra oomph in terms of customization and convenience, which is always great to have.
The remastered trilogy didn’t launch with Steam Workshop support, unfortunately, which means that we’ll have to put in some extra effort when installing the best ME Legendary Edition mods. Nonetheless, here are our favorite picks:
- Trilogy Save Editor
- ME2LE One Probe All Resources
- ME2 LE Combat Remastered
- Speed Bin Tweaks
- Spectre - A Gameplay Rework for LE1
- Unlimited Sprint and Boost Duration
- LE1/LE3 Community Patch
Trilogy Save Editor
Mass Effect Legendary Edition’s Trilogy Save Editor mod is a powerful tool that lets you tweak a variety of things about your playthrough to your liking. These range from your character’s origin, class, and powers, to your companions’ inventories and various important decisions you can take during the story. Get it from Nexus Mods.
ME2LE One Probe All Resources
Scanning planets in Mass Effect 2 Legendary Edition has the same pros and cons as it did in the original game. Some players view it as a neat distraction away from the grand main plot, others would rather not have to deal with it. If you’re in the second camp, this mod lets you find all resources and reveal all anomalies on planets by using a single probe. Get it from Nexus Mods.
ME2 LE Combat Remastered
Mass Effect 2 Legendary Edition reflects the original’s different combat feel. The game as a whole marked a shift towards a more action-focused approach, and the Combat Remastered mod brings a series of tweaks inspired by the original title. Weapon types feel more distinct from each other, enemy accuracy is now influenced by factors like recoil and movement, while class loadouts have received some changes. Reworked weapons’ recoil, accuracy, and rate-of-fire, in tandem with everything else the mod brings should allow you to depend less on cover while in combat and make classes more fun to use. Find it on Nexus Mods.
Speed Bin Tweaks
There’s a lot of ground to cover in the trilogy’s first two games and the Speed Bin Tweaks mod helps you save some time while adventuring across the galaxy by adding infinite sprint and Mako boost to the mix. Grab it from Nexus Mods.
Spectre - A Gameplay Rework for LE1
Although the original game’s remaster received a fair bit of attention, Mass Effect Legendary Edition’s Spectre mod aims to rework the gameplay further, predominantly targeting weapon accuracy. Installing you gets you greatly reduced minimum spreads for all weapons except shotguns, while bringing non-Spectre weapons closer to their specialized versions. You’ll be able to carry up to 15 grenades with the proper upgrades and can sprint for as long as you like, both in and out of combat. Find it on Nexus Mods.
Unlimited Sprint and Boost Duration
This one’s a simple mod that lets you sprint while on foot and use the Mako’s boost for a considerably longer period of time than the vanilla games allow. After all, there’s no time to catch your breath while saving the galaxy. Find it on Nexus Mods.
LE1/LE3 Community Patch
These two community patches introduce a host of smaller bugfixes that do, nonetheless, ensure a smoother overall experience while playing through the first and third games in the trilogy. They range from removing grammatical errors to getting rid of clipping issues or rogue camera angles that pointed at random crates during cutscenes. Both the LE1 and LE3 community patches are available on Nexus Mods.
Non-Essential Mass Effect Legendary Edition Mods
Mass Effect Legendary Edition is out now on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
