SEGA and Two Point Studios have announced that Two Point Hospital - the spiritual sequel to Bullfrog's classic and beloved Theme Hospital - has a release date of August 30.
Two Point Hospital, like Theme Hospital before it, is a hospital management simulator with a more humorous, wacky tone. The game is being made by ex-Lionhead and Bullfrog staff, some of whom worked on the original Theme Hospital. It will be out on PC only at the start. It's also looking very good indeed.
We played Two Point Hospital for a few hours and found it hugely entertaining, saying that "we only had the shortest taste of Two Point Hospital but we already can’t wait to play it, and totally see ourselves getting fully addicted once the game comes out - like any good management game... Two Point Hospital is out in just over a month’s time, and we probably won’t stop talking about it until then. Or after."
We also spoke with two of the game's developers from Two Point Studios.
Ben Hymers, Technical Director and Studio Co-Founder, said, "we’re crafting something nice that we hope will be enjoyed by a broad range of people - maybe by people who don’t have as much gaming experience. We hope the nice aesthetic and welcoming nature will make it fun for everyone, but we’ve also tried to go deep into simulation-land for those who want to play it like that."
Art Director Mark Smart added, "be hope we’ve made a game that’s accessible to everyone, and that they can play it the way they want to. We’re making something we’d love to play."
You can check out 30 minutes of exclusive gameplay from our session with Two Point Hospital, with no commentary other than the radio DJs, below.
