Publisher No More Robots today announced Tombstar, a top-down shooter with a space western vibe from Crossy Road creator Andy Sum and Australian game designer Marcus Grambau.
Inspired by late ’80s morning cartoons, Tombstar follows a team of three “gun-slinging renegades” as they travel across the Frontier Galaxy in pursuit of the not-so-lawfully-sounding Grimheart Gang.
Tombstar’s top-down shooting features bullet hell elements that test players’ reactions which are further complemented by a hefty serving of procedural exploration.
Space Western Top-Down Shooter Tombstar Announced
“Blaze your way through hordes of assorted space scum, from pistol-wielding cowpokes to robots with death lasers, and collect valuable loot, powerful upgrades and an abundance of dynamic weapons”, reads an emailed press release.
Tombstar will see players exploring four planets, each featuring different “gruelling and bizarre alien landscapes”.
To rid the universe of the Grimheart Gang, players must put the game’s varied arsenal and upgrades to good use.
Tombstar is slated for an early 2021 release on PC and consoles. If you’d like an early taste of what’s to come closed beta sign-ups are now live, ahead of its start date in late 2020.
You can also follow and wishlist Tombstar on Steam and check it out in motion in the trailer below.
