Total War: Warhammer 3 is officially on the way with Kislevite bears and many demons in tow. Since it’s also the first title in the trilogy to launch on both Steam and the Epic Games Store, developer Creative Assembly has clarified how cross-store DLC will work.
Cross-store DLC will behave in the same manner for Total War: Warhammer 3 and the trilogy’s previous titles. The developer hopes to get both Warhammer 1 and 2 on the Epic Games Store before the third game launches. But, even so, you’ll probably want to buy all your DLC in one place.
“Currently, it’s not possible to track the different TW:WARHAMMER content you own across different store fronts. So for example, if you buy TW:WH on Epic, you will need to buy the DLC on Epic too in order to use it,” the developer explains.
The Mortal Empires DLC is no exception, requiring that you own both Warhammer 1 and Warhammer 2 on the same storefront for it to be redeemable. This is a significant limitation if you planned on switching stores while holding onto your existing DLC, at least at the moment.
The developer “hope[s] to introduce functionality through Total War Access in the future that would enable you to link your Steam and Epic accounts,” but “cannot guarantee this functionality at any point currently.”
We’ll keep an eye out for any new details regarding Total War: Warhammer cross-store DLC and update this article as soon as we learn more. In the meantime, here’s what you need to know about cross-store multiplayer in the trilogy’s third game.
