“We’ve still got a ways to go yet before we’re ready for that, but we’re hoping to make it a proper 1.0 package with new things to discover in early biomes as well,” the developer wrote in late November 2024, while giving us a brief look at the gorgeous night sky and the aurora borealis that can be spotted from the new area.
New build pieces are also coming with the update, while late January confirmed that the zone, predictably, features snow-covered trees.
The same post also introduced us to Hervor Bloodtooth, a viking whose journey to the Deep North will gradually unfold over the course of future development blogs.
That is what we currently know about Valheim’s Deep North Biome update alongside when its release date might occur.
Developer Iron Gate prefers taking its time with large updates, which has proven to be a good strategy so far, but we should slowly learn more about what awaits us in the Deep North over the coming months.
