Coming to Steam Next Fest in February and Early Access later on, Line War looks to reinvigorate multiplayer strategy with streamlined gameplay. Inspired by the classic Command & Conquer, with a nod to the board game Axis and Allies, you might already know what to expect, but don’t be so sure.
Line War is set to incorporate elements of 4X, wargame, auto battlers, and real-time tactics in a way that makes it approachable for newcomers and veterans alike.
It features a control system based around the idea of drawing unit paths, allowing for easy deployment of complex movements and tactics, creating command lines, or flanking your enemies.
The strategy layer is also built for ease of use, with a single playable faction making for perfectly balanced matches and only two resources - Capital and Energy - to worry about.
With things so simple, you might expect a lack of replayability, but the randomly generated maps will create endless variety and the unique picking phase lets players choose their starting locations, adding further depth to the strategy layer.
While the game isn’t ready for a full release, you can wishlist it on Steam to watch it develop. There’s plenty of stuff on the roadmap as well - technologies, 2v2, 3v3, FFA, Single Player are all in the works.
There are also plenty of other games already out if you don’t want to wait, and our Best Strategy Games on PC list might have something you’ll love.
