What is the max level cap in Dragon Age The Veilguard?
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is finally here, marking BioWare’s big return to the world of Thedas and single-player RPGs. Though not without its faults, we’ve been greatly enjoying our time with it so far and are ready to answer some of your most burning questions, such as what the max level is for both Rook and their companions.
If you’re looking to shake things up on the robust PC version of the game, we’re already sifting through the best Dragon Age: The Veilguard mods released so far, which include character presets and slight visual reworks.
Max Rook level in Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Your main hero, nicknamed ‘Rook’ regardless of the name you pick during the in-depth character creation process, can hit level 50. In our experience, levelling up in Dragon Age: The Veilguard is straightforward through its traditional XP system and plenty of secondary quests and small actions that also yield XP rewards. Combat isn’t the main source of experience in this game, so our recommendation is not to skip too many (if any) side quests and to take your time exploring every area as the plot progresses.
This doesn’t mean you’ll cap at 50 skill points to shape your Rook build. In certain zones, you’ll find Altars of Fen’Harel that reward you with an extra skill point upon completion, bringing the total to 65 skill points. They’re hard to miss, as this game’s maps aren’t too vast nor wide. Just make sure to explore every corner if you’re planning to max out your Rook. And in case you’re worried about your choices early on: You can respec as much as you like for free.
Max companion level in Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Companions, on the other hand, have a level 10 cap, though they earn two skill points with each level. The big difference here is that their progression tracks aren’t tied to XP. Instead, their ‘bond level’ increases each time they fight alongside or chat with you. The bigger gains come from completing their questlines, so don’t ignore for too long and try to mix things up with the party configuration every time you set out on a new adventure.
Of course, companions can also be respecced for free and without limits, so we highly encourage experimentation, especially as you approach the late portion of the game and try to tackle the more difficult side challenges.
