World of Warcraft: Shadowlands Season 4 release date marks the final batch of content for what has been one of the MMORPG’s most troubled expansions. It’s a bit of an unusual one, too as Blizzard is looking to focus on experimentation.
This makes WoW: Shadowlands’ Season 4 a bit different from what you’d normally expect. Mainly, there’s a smaller amount of new content, as the focus falls on refreshing dungeons and raids from prior patches and expansions while making them relevant again.
World of Warcraft: Shadowlands Season 4 Release Date
World of Warcraft: Shadowlands’ Season 4 has locked in its release date to the week of August 2, kicking off as soon as the weekly reset occurs in your region.
This does make for a shorter third season, which prompted the developer to nerf raid encounters, as fewer guilds managed to get the Ahead of the Curve and Cutting Edge achievements than usual. When Season 4 launches, they will no longer be obtainable for the Sepulcher of the First Ones raid.
Blizzard has now confirmed that WoW: Shadowlands Season 4 has locked down its end date to October 25/October 26, depending on your region. The Mythic+ season ends as regional maintenance begins, while the PvP season will conclude the night before.
- World of Warcraft: Shadowlands Season 4 release date: August 2 (NA)/August 3 (EU)
- World of Warcraft: Shadowlands Season 4 end date: October 25 (NA)/October 26 (EU)
Looking at WoW: Shadowlands’ Season 4, you can expect to run a different pool of Mythic+ dungeons.
Rather than going through the current expansion dungeons only with a new affix, we’ll get to revisit the MMORPG’s three megadungeons (split into two separate wings each) alongside two dungeons from Warlords of Draenor, as chosen by the community.
WoW: Shadowlands Season 4 Mythic+ Dungeon Pool
- Tazavesh: Streets of Wonder
- Tazavesh: So'leah’s Gambit
- Operation Mechagon: Junkyard
- Operation Mechagon: Workshop
- Return to Karazhan: Lower
- Return to Karazhan: Upper
- Grimrail Depot
- Iron Docks
There will still be a new affix, Shrouded, which spawns dreadlord mobs throughout dungeons, rewarding you with stacks of crit, haste, versatility, or mastery for each one killed. More dangerous minibosses offer greater rewards than regular mobs, further increasing your power.
New achievements associated with these dungeons will also be introduced. Reaching certain Mythic+ rating thresholds – 1500 and 2000, respectively – earns you a new title, the Shrouded, and the Restoration Deathwalker mount.
Although WoW: Shadowlands Season 4 introduces no new raids, it will make all of the expansions’ three raids – Castle Nathria, Sanctum of Domination, and Sepulcher of the First Ones – relevant once more.
Every week, one of the three will become a Fated raid, making it more difficult and awarding high-level loot. They will also have Fated affixes attached to them, providing a greater challenge that may require you to adapt your tactics.
Fated status extends to the world bosses in certain areas of the Shadowlands. Although we’ll have to wait and see the Season 4 patch notes for the full list of class changes, Destruction Warlock and Survival Hunter will be nerfed.
With a bit of luck, World of Warcraft: Shadowlands’ Season 4 will translate to more interesting seasons going into Dragonflight and beyond.
