Rumor: EA seeking to continue Command & Conquer with new studio
Back in late October, Electronic Arts shuttered developer Victory Games and shut down work on the free-to-play Command & Conquer.
Command & Conquer canceled, Victory Studios shuttered
Victory Studios announced on the official Command & Conquer blog that alpha testing was ceasing, due to the game, formerly called Command & Conquer Generals 2, being canceled.
DICE's Frostbite 3 engine currently in development with "15+ games"
Technical director Johan Andersson for Frostbite 3, DICE's proprietary engine, is currently being used in over 15 game projects. He also confirmed the recent AMD Mantle support would 'roll out' to all titles. Known titles using Frostbite 3 include the imminently due Battlefield 4, the announced Star Wars: Battlefront and Mirror's Edge 2. Those three are just with DICE.
EA's Moore discusses online play, free-to-play
Electronic Arts chief operating officer Peter Moore posted in the official EA blog that not all Electronic Arts games will require multiplayer. He also discussed the issues with free-to-play games in the EA catalog.
GamesCom 2013: Episodic campaign due in 2014 for Command & Conquer
The new Command & Conquer will be receiving a story-based campaign in episodic chunks throughout next year, reveals EA during Gamescom 2013. They're for solo and co-operative play. This new C&C is powered by DICE's Frostbite engine and was originally billed as C&C: Generals 2 but later became just 'Command & Conquer' as a free-to-play title.
