Dead Island: Epidemic will close down this October
Publisher Deep Silver has announced that spin-off MOBA Dead Island: Epidemic will close down this October, after less than a year on Steam Early Access. “Over the past weeks and months we’ve been evaluating how to proceed with Dead Island: Epidemic and looking towards the future for the game. We’re sad to announce today that we’ve come to the conclusion to cease further development,” Deep Silver wrote on the game's Steam page.

It still seems really weird to say there's a MOBA version of Dead Island, but yes, there is indeed a MOBA version of Dead Island, and it's just entered open Beta. Deep Silver has made Dead Island: Epidemic available to all users on Steam, and they've also issued a major new update for the game.
Closed beta signups for Dead Island: Epidemic, a 'ZOMBA' "right around the corner"
Deep Silver has thrown open the doors to the new Dead Island: Epidemic website and have started taking closed beta registrations for the upcoming 'Zombie Online Multiplayer Battle Arena', or ZOMBA. Three teams are pitted against each other as they battle to survive, and your hero is directly controlled through WSAD and crosshairs. Beta testers will join 30k alpha users.

Publisher Deep Silver revealed that the developer of the upcoming MOBA based on the Dead Island license, Dead Island: Epidemic, is Swedish developer Stunlock Studios, which worked on Bloodline Champions.
