2K Games "decided not to renew" MLB 2K for 2014, dev team moved to other IPs
While it was a surprise that 2K Games was suddenly releasing MLB 2K13 in March of last year, as many assumed the series benched, 2K has now decided it will be keeping that bench warm after all. The publisher has "decided not to renew" the MBL 2K series for this year, with last year's instalment criticised for being too similar to MLB 2K12 with 'just an updated roster'.
MLB 2K12 demo hits Xbox Live Marketplace, PlayStation Network
Those of you interested in 2K Sports' latest edition of the Great American Pasttime can check out a demo of MLB 2K12 on Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network. The demo weighs in at 690MB, and features the 2011 World Series combatants, the Texas Rangers and the St. Louis Cardinals.
MLB 2K12 demo hitting Tuesday, 28th February
2K Sports has announced on the official Facebook page that a demo for MLB 2K12, the studio's baseball title, will be hitting on the 28th February for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. According to the entry, "Exclusive info - MLB 2K12 demo to be released Tuesday, 2/28 on Sony PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 pitting MLB World Series rematch of St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers. You ready?"
2K Sports Combo Pack announced for Xbox 360
2K Sports has announced a new sports combo pack exclusively for the Xbox 360, bundling last year's hit basketball game NBA 2K12 with the upcoming baseball sim MLB 2K12. The bundle will be released on the 6th March and cost $69.99 USD.
Justin Verlander named MLB 2K12 cover athlete
2K Sports has announced in a press release that the new cover athlete for MLB 2K12 will be the Detroit Tigers' starting pitcher, Justin Verlander, who is expected to overwhelmingly win the American League Cy Young Award for 2011, with an outside chance of winning the Most Valuable Player as well. MLB 2K12 will be released on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, among other platforms.
