2K Sports has announced in a press release that the new cover athlete for MLB 2K12 will be the Detroit Tigers’ starting pitcher, Justin Verlander, who is expected to overwhelmingly win the American League Cy Young Award for 2011, with an outside chance of winning the Most Valuable Player as well. MLB 2K12 will be released on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, among other platforms.
”Justin’s amazing performance this season speaks for itself,” 2K Sports VP of marketing Jason Argent gushed, ”Between his second career no-hitter and leading the league in virtually every pitching category, I can’t think of anyone else but Justin Verlander to serve as the face of Major League Baseball 2K12.”
2K Sports released an announcement trailer, but, disappointingly, the trailer only depicts Verlander in this past year’s MLB 2K11 title, rather than the unrevealed MLB 2K12.
