Closed beta begins for Namco's Ridge Racer Driftopia on Steam
The first ever free-to-play Ridge Racer has just begun its closed beta phase with registrants receiving beta keys via the official Ridge Racer Driftopia website. The beta client is available through Steam. Namco promise the series' "signature drifting and arcade handling" remain at the heart of Driftopia. It's in development with Bugbear Entertainment, creator of Ridge Racer Unbounded.
This week's North American content for PlayStation Network revealed
Sony has revealed this week's PlayStation Network releases and content for North America, which is highlighted by the full game download of The Amazing Spider-Man, along with a new Uncharted 1/2 bundle. Of course, the Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut is also included among this week's DLC.
Namco Bandai releases demo for Ridge Racer Unbounded
Namco Bandai has released a playable demo for Ridge Racer Unbounded on the PlayStation Network and via Steam for PC, while an Xbox 360 demo will be released on the Xbox Live Marketplace on 23rd May. In this single player demo, players will get a taste of Ridge Racer Unbounded with two races in the City Limit District. Take control of the Wolfseye GT (street class), or take the wheel of a Hurricana CX (super class) in the Shatter the City race.

It seems developer Bugbear Entertainment is taking a page from TrackMania in allowing gamers to create and share their own race tracks in Ridge Racer Unbounded.
Ridge Racer Unbounded delayed, entering Retail on 30th March
Namco Bandai confirmed today that it has delayed Ridge Racer Unbounded by four weeks. The game will now be released on 30th March for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. "The development team felt they needed a little bit of extra time to optimise the game," said a spokesperson for Namco Bandai.
