1C Game Studios’ WWII flight simulator IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad will be released in September 2014, the developer has announced in a press release sent to Strategy Informer today.
Taking place in the dangerous skies above the famous battle on the Eastern Front, Battle of Stalingrad will be an ”accurate and detailed reconstruction” of one of the critical periods in the Second World War. The developers are also planning an open beta for this Summer.
Aside from offering various lovingly recreated versions of classic period planes for you to fly, 1C promise a ”new, higher level of physics modeling, damage modeling and aerodynamics”. Early Access buyers have been able to try out the game since November 2013, but now the development team are gearing up for a full release.
“Our team is approaching a very important stage of development – we’realmost at the finish line. Before this point we only had a draft, a rough version with basic elements of gameplay. By the time the beta starts we should have the majority of content ready, it will be a full-fledged game at that point,” said Albert Zhiltsov, the game’s producer.
“We plan to dedicate the remaining months to optimization and bug fixing,” he continues. ”The game has been in the early access stage since November 2013. This spring we opened up access 24/7 and we have been producing weekly updates for the past several months, which means releasing a new game every seven days. Thisis not the most efficient option for a development team, but this gives us a unique and valuable opportunity to get feedback from users before the game hits stores.”
You can currently grab the Early Access version of the game in Standard and Premium form on the official website, for $54.99 and $94.99 respectively.
