If you thought that the toys-to-life market was going to be forever cornered by the likes of Disney Infinity and Skylanders, you might want to think again.
It appears that Warner Bros, together with Lego tie-in developer Traveller’s Tales have something up their digital sleeves and that we’ll see it before the end of the year, too.
The revelation comes from a source close to Videogamer.com who broke the story earlier today.
Apparently in development at Traveller’s Tales, the game is envisioned to be a disruptive force in the toys-to-life space and is envisaged to launch alongside a range of compatible LEGO figures and toys.
Naturally when questioned about the story, Warner Bros chose not to comment on it but during an earlier interview by Videogamer.com with Traveller’s Tales associate producer Tim Wileman, it was suggested that something of this nature might be on the way.
As it is, the notion of a LEGO-themed toys-to-life game seems like a reasonable one. With LEGO’s place as children’s premier constructive entertainment icon unceremoniously usurped by Mojang’s Minecraft in recent times, this would seem like a plausible way for the franchise to get back into the hearts, minds and wallets of kids and parents alike.
Elsewhere, it’s shaping up to be a busy year for British developer Traveller’s Tales, as the team already has Lego Jurassic World (check out our interview here) and Lego Marvel Avengers in the pipeline.
