Update 5th of October, 2018: Developers of Alien: Isolation are now working on a sci-fi tactical shooter of some sort - that much we know by now - but it's not all that clear what sort of tactical shooter this is going to be.
All the information we've got so far about this game is that which we can glean from the developer's job postings: one calls for a Senior Technical Designer, while the other is looking for a Senior Level Designer.
In concrete terms, Creative Assembly is looking for experience in Unreal 4, an interest in sci-fi, professional experience in stealth, FPS, or immersive sim titles, and experience in multiplayer level creation, which makes for an interesting combination of fields to work with. Stay tuned for more info on this rather curious project!
Original story: The team behind Alien: Isolation are working on a new sci-fi tactical FPS, and it will be an original IP. The Alien Isolation team's new FPS was reported last year by ourselves, but now we finally have a few more details about the project.
It comes from a new job listing from Creative Assembly's website. While previous listings have referred to their new game as an FPS or a new IP, the latest posting makes it more clear, and more exciting.
The job listing for Senior Technical Designer clearly reads: "Creative Assembly’s award-winning team behind Alien: Isolation are exploring new frontiers with a brand-new and exciting First Person Tactical Shooter IP"
There are a number of other new postings with this heading, but this listing suggests the theme, too. Aside from the rather blatant note about "exploring new frontiers," the listing also notes one of only two 'Desirable' traits for a candidate to have: "Interest in sci-fi".
When we previously reported this, an insider called this new IP "the biggest multiformat project Creative Assembly has ever undertaken", which is certainly exciting. While it may not be connected to Aliens, which is a shame because Alien Isolation is a fantastic game, we'll be excited to see whatever this team is cooking up.
