Obsidian is one of multiple resources you’ll want to gather during your time in Ark: Survival Evolved and knowing some locations where it spawns is key to efficiently harvesting it.
You’ll know you’ve spotted Ark: Survival Evolved’s Obsidian – which is used to create modern tech items – when you see black rocks with a slight sheen.
For the most part, you’ll find Ark: Survival Evolved Obsidian locations either on mountains or inside caves.
Ark: Survival Evolved Obsidian Locations
Ark: Survival Evolved’s Obsidian resource is quite abundent in multiple locations on its Ragnarok map. The Volcano Tippy Top, Egil Throughway, and Cold Eye Ridge are all worth exploring.
When it comes to The Island, you’ll definitely want to check the Volcano near The Grand Hills and Whitesky Peak for Obsidian locations. You’re bound to also find some around Far’s Peak to the east and the southernmost island of the Southern Islands.
Braving The Center’s wilds instead? Your go-to location for Ark: Survival Evolved’s Obsidian on this map is the Lava Islands up north.
If you’re more of a Scorched Earth person, you’ll want to look for Obsidian locations along the western edge of the map in the World Scar but also on the peaks of the Northern mountains.
Ark: Survival Evolved’s Genesis: Part 1 map isn’t all that rich in Obsidian locations, the few available being found around the Volcano in its northeastern side.
In contrast, Aberration holds plenty. Some spots worth checking include the Surface, in the northwestern corner of the map, The Spine and the Surface to the southwest.
The Valguero map is also rather poor in Obsidian, however, if you’re adamant about getting some while on it, check in the Boreal Forest to the northeast and northwest.
The last map on the list of Ark: Survival Evolved Obsidian locations is Extinction. You’ll find plenty of Obsidian locations around the Sweeping Spires and the northwestern part of the Wasteland.
