Ravine Games has announced RAEV, an upcoming kingdom builder featuring anthropomorphic animals. Announced during the Future Games Show, the game is set for a 2026 release.
Taking a leaf out of modern city builders like Banished or Manor Lords, RAEV gives you the freedom to build up a settlement and grow it into a fully-fledged kingdom. Humble villages grow into detailed cities, with diverse terrain and environmental features playing a huge role in how you approach the final design.
Unlike other builders of its type though, RAEV places a larger emphasis on the unique personalities of its citizens. Called “Raevins”, these characters have their own skills and quirks, making each one unique from the last. It creates a bit of strategy as each Raevin will be better suited to one job than others.
Additionally, resource management and diplomacy play a huge part in running your kingdom. Being a ruler isn’t easy, and you’re going to have to make hard choices and compromises from time to time.
Ravine Games has promised that RAEV’s building mechanics come with no grid restrictions, allowing you to place roads and buildings wherever you please. This allows for unlimited potential, as you can craft your empire in the way you see fit.
With this in mind, RAEV should have plenty of potential community content potential. When you see how players have fun with games like Townscaper and Cities: Skylines, the creative inspiration is limitless.
RAEV will be releasing on PC some time in 2026.
