New World will see you tracking down multiple resources as you journey across Aeternum and not all of them are easy to find. One of the more elusive ones, at least in the early days of closed beta, is the Petalcap, players having quite a bit of trouble finding locations from where to harvest it.
New World Petalcaps are required both for quest progress and when crafting certain types of potions. That’s why knowing a handful of locations where you can find them is going to be quite helpful. At the same time, you can lose many an hour roaming around the map in hopes of spotting Fronded Petalcaps. We’ve already done quite a bit of that and managed to pinpoint one area where you’re seemingly more bound to encounter them.
When setting out in search of New World Petalcaps, you need to keep an eye out for the green, pineapple-like plants pictured above. Called Fronded Petalcaps, you’ll need to harvest them using a sickle if you’re looking to get the resource proper.
As many players will tell you, they’ve been exceedingly rare during the first few days of closed beta. It’s hard to tell whether the culprit is a low spawn rate or a combination of bad luck and other players harvesting them first, but we’ve only managed to gather a handful.
More specifically, we’ve had the best luck finding Fronded Petalcaps near the border between New World’s Windsward and First Light territories, both along the river and in other parts of the highlands.
It’s difficult to say whether they prefer one type of terrain over the others or not at this stage, but checking out the border should, hopefully, let you easily nab some. Needless to say, keeping an eye out while exploring might see you bumping into other spots where they spawn.
