Since the game was first revealed, Resident Evil Village’s length has been as much a subject of speculation as a certain tall lady’s actual height. Have too short an experience and its horror won’t be able to dig its claws into you properly. Make it too long and it risks fizzling out before its conclusion.
Having seen Ethan’s journey through to its end, we can speak from experience about RE Village’s length. Here’s how long it took us to beat Capcom’s latest effort.
Resident Evil Village takes you on quite the journey and, aside from its critical path, also invites players to explore its areas by spreading out items, treasures, and puzzles between them. Having done our fair share of exploration, it took us a bit over 10 hours to beat the game, with some things still left to discover.
While 10 hours is the Resident Evil Village length that we got out of our Standard difficulty playthrough, it’s quite conceivable that it can be finished in fewer than that, especially if you move straight from main objective to main objective.
Completing every puzzle and doing all you can to grab every item in the game will likely take you longer and exploration does have its perks. We found the 10 hours we spent with RE Village to be an appropriate length for what it has to offer and never felt that the game was overstaying its welcome.
For more of our thoughts on the title, here are 10 things you need to know before you buy Resident Evil Village.
