Sci-fi Warhammer releases now seem to be coming at us back-to-back, and the upcoming Warhammer 40k: Mechanicus intents to fulfil a niche that no-one's covered just yet. A fully-fledged XCOM-style turn-based strategy, this game will have you control a squad of Tech-priests as they face the Nekron threat.
With Ben Counter, an official Black Library author at the helm of the game's plot, Mechanicus seems to be prepared to challenge us not only in regards to gameplay but also the story, as the game will feature active decision-making, multiple endings, and everything that goes along with that sort of approach.
Warhammer 40k: Mechanicus is going to have every feature you'd expect from an XCOM-alike, really. Planning expeditions via a proper meta-layer, resource management, tech research (rediscovery, rather - considering this is WH40k), and armoury modules for us to customise our Tech-priests in great detail.
As it stands, the game will release in just about three months' time, on 15th of November, and if you're already interested in getting it, the option to pre-purchase is already present. This will afford you a special 10% off of the original price of the game, which is now sitting at 26,99€.
For 31,49€, however, you could also get the special Omnissiah Edition, which will come with a special digital artbook, a copy of the game's soundtrack, and - most importantly - the Arc Scourge weapon for your Tech-priests to use in active combat.
